The role of the Tofu Community Coordinator supports the Alder team with managing and growing Tofu, our community for climate tech marketers.
Tofu is a monthly newsletter and Slack community for climate tech marketers and marketing-hat-wearing climate tech founders and marketers looking to pivot into climate tech, where we share tips and tricks on climate tech marketing and encourage networking amongst members.
The community provides a tribe for anyone who wants to use their marketing skills and experience to work on climate to avert the climate catastrophe.
The community was launched in mid-2021 and has grown to more than 1000 members from all over the world. It’s a passionate, amicable and supportive community where members can learn the latest marketing trends in climate tech, post/share their successes and challenges, get support with any issue they’re struggling with, and source talent and/or suppliers for their climate tech marketing programs.
Responsibilities and tasks include:
- Manage content creation, post content on Substack, manage the content distribution via Substack, LinkedIn
- Manage the Substack subscription process & payments
- Post, comment, encourage our Slack community to keep it lively & active, ensure members adhere to community guidelines
- Grow the community through promotion on other channels (LinkedIn, other Slack communities, events)
- Explore partnerships & collaborations with other communities and content creators
- Organize virtual community events
- Contribute to the development of the community strategy (growth, promotion, engagement, monetization)
- Adhere to Alder & Tofu brand guidelines, community guidelines, tone of voice, and four-eye-principle for quality assurance when acting on behalf of Tofu
Required skills, strengths, and experience:
- Attention to detail
- Strong writing skills
- Self-starter / quick learner
- Project & time management
- 1–2 years of work experience, ideally in a community management, marketing/PR agency or in-house marketing role
- Knowledge of social media platforms and scheduling tools
- Knowledge of marketing tech tools, including Substack, Google Analytics, social media and communication/project management tools like Google Drive/Google Docs, Slack, ClickUp
- Industry experience in climate tech and sustainability is a plus but not required
Salary range
This fully remote, part-time contractor role pays $35–$55 per hour (depending on experience) and a 25% commission for any new paid subscribers secured for the Tofu Substack newsletter (based on the subscription type at the time of purchase — monthly, annual or founding member).
