Background

Greenline Climate is a joint venture between two standard-bearers in the carbon industry formed to raise the bar for quality and integrity in forest carbon projects. They pair deep expertise in forestry and carbon-project development with an in-depth understanding of the timber industry, enabling them to maximize their impact by working with major landowners and timberland investors.

Challenge

As a recently-launched joint venture, Greenline Climate needed a brand identity, positioning, and web presence that could bring the businesses’ strong fundamentals to life. The task was to create a distinctive new brand that could draw on the strong reputations of Greenline Climate’s corporate relatives without being overshadowed. That meant showcasing the company’s unique mix of scientific and commercial expertise, alongside their partnership-driven approach to the industry. At the same time, we needed to represent the passionate, mission-driven side of forest carbon development without alienating their target customer: timber industry landowners and investors.

Solution

The partnership between Alder and Greenline Climate was collaborative and iterative without sacrificing urgency. Alder led multiple workshops and research sessions with the Greenline team and external stakeholders to ground ourselves in the industry, then used the outputs to inform a strong visual identity and messaging tonality for the new brand. We then implemented the new brand across a totally redesigned and rewritten website, marketing collateral, and other materials in advance of the brand’s debut.

Results

The collaboration between Alder and Greenline Climate had an immediate impact, with the new brand drawing praise from both the Greenline team and their founding stakeholders. Initial response among their audience was positive as well, showing that Alder’s design, brand building, and copywriting skills served Greenline Climate well.

With a compelling visual identity, dialed in tonality, and array of easily grasped collateral, Greenline is well positioned to succeed in growing the forest carbon industry and have a major impact in the fight against climate change. And Alder will be working right alongside them, supporting their growing presence in the industry.

The brand Greenline Climate and Alder built together was an immediate success, both internally and with Greenline’s target audience.
